Why do you need a baby sleeping bag?

At about 8-10 weeks old, a baby starts to kick up his legs in preparation for sitting and rolling (little baby sit ups basically) and of course, he starts to kick his covers off, with a danger that the blankets could go over his face.

Once rolling at 4 or 5 months, he rolls right out of his blankets, and once he starts to sit, he will start sleeping in the opposite direction to that which you left him in, with his blankets at the other end of the cot.

A bababag™ or baby sleeping bag ensures that your baby is kept warm and snug all night long, no matter how or where he sleeps, which also increases his sense of security. This means that he is also likely to sleep through the night much earlier.

By the time he gets to about 8 or 9 months old, when you put him in his sleeping bag, your baby will start to rub his eyes. He is tired, and he knows that his bababag(tm) means it is time to sleep and safe to sleep. So, he goes to sleep.

As a result, he sleeps better, which means that you will too!

It is very important to use the appropriate size bababag™ for your baby. Your baby’s head must be bigger than the head opening and there shouldn’t be too much excess material below your baby’s feet, as he will find this frustrating to turn in.

0-6 month bababag™(4.5kg to 8kg)

The 0-6 month bababag™ has double poppers on the shoulders which enables  the bababag™ to open out flat so that you can lay your baby down into it easily and close it over him. We have also added an extra zip opening at the bottom of the bababag™ to make changing a nappy in the middle of the night a much easier task! We recommend that babies weigh approximately 4.5kgs and are 6 weeks old before they begin using their first bababag™. It is preferable to swaddle your baby during the first few weeks of life (see our Newborn Swaddlebag), as having her arms close to her body increases her sense of security.

6-18 month and 18 to 36 month bababags™(summer is 6-36 months)

From 6 months onwards, babies begin to push up on their knees, preparing to stand and cruise. At this point, shoulder poppers are no longer as secure and they can un-pop. As a result, all bababags™  sized from 6 months come with the zip down the middle. The zip runs down the middle of the chest from top to bottom, making it easy to change your baby’s nappy as it can be undone part way so you can reach the nappy without unwrapping your baby’s chest area. There is also a zip guard at the top to ensure the zip doesn’t irritate your baby. On the Spring/ Autumn and Summer bababag™ in these sizes, there is also the benefit of the car seat opening so that you baby can be safely secured into his or her car seat whilst wearing a bababag™. Perfect for evening outings or daytime sleeps whilst out and about.

6 to 36 month Summer bababag™

The 6 to 36 month Summer bababag™ provides fantastic value for money, due to the popper system, which allows the bababag™ to be unfolded as your baby grows, thereby giving you three year’s worth of use. 
There are two sets of poppers on the back of the bababag™, providing three different lengths, so you can choose the appropriate size for your baby’s size and age. The popper system is only used on the summer bababag™, as the fabric used for the Spring/Autumn and Winter bababag™ is too thick to fold over in the same way.
